The chelate was a more effective inhibitor than free MAIQ-1 in the absence of added iron. MAIQ-1(Fe2+) was kinetically noncompetitive with the nucleotide substrate and with Fe2+; it was uncompetitive with thioredoxin, the protein dithiol substrate. ACKNOWLEDGMENT Some of the research is taken from a thesis submitted by Paul Preidecker to the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Houston in partial fulfillment of the requirements of the degree of Master of Science in Biomedical Science.
