Methanol oxidation is decreased by pyrazole in the rat, where a role of liver alcohol dehydrogenase has not previously been established. However, the inhibitory effect of Pyrazole on methanol oxidation is more marked in the monkey, where alcohol dehydrogenase is the major catalyst for methanol oxidation.
