Protein/DNA complexes in drug-treated cells were measured by using the potassium/SDS precipitation method as described in Materals and Methods. The total trichloroacetic acid-precipitable cpm for each sample average was ∼4.5 × 104.

    • 1-a Cell lysates were treated with proteinase K (400 μg/ml) at 37° for 2 hr.

    • 1-b Drugs-treated cells were heated to 65° for 10 min before SDS lysis.
