The reference molecular masses for AHR were 95,000 Da (mAHRb−1 allele), 105,000 Da (mAHRb-2 allele), 106,000 Da (rAHR), and 105,000 Da (hAHR). The relative expression of AHR in each cell line was determined by Western blot analysis. Each value is the percentage of expression compared to WT Hepa-1 cells. Total cell lysate in nanograms was determined with quantitative Western analysis and each value is the mean ± standard deviation of a least two replicated experiments; total cell lysate in femtomoles was calculated from the nanogram total by using 95–106 pg of AHR = 1 fmol [determined directly by dividing (fmol/mg × 6.023 × 108molecules/fmol)/(number of cells per mg total cell lysate) or indirectly by first determining the femtomoles of AHR in each cell line based on the relative expression, and then calculating AHRs/cell as above].
