Cell surface and total receptor number were measured using [3H]NMS and [3H]QNB respectively, in the absence or presence of pertussis toxin pretreatment as described underExperimental Procedures. The percentage of receptors at the cell surface was determined by the ratio of bound [3H]NMS to bound [3H]QNB (% = [3H]NMS/[3H]QNB × 100). Values are expressed as mean ± S.E.M.
