Each value represents the mean ± S.E.M. calculated from the experimental values generated from each mouse (n).P values were obtained using a linear mixed model, which adjusts for correlation in measurements from the same mouse, assuming that eyes were exchangeable. A log transformation was used when analyzing number and average size of NV lesions and a square root transformation was used for total area of NV lesions. Transformation reduced the variance of the data relative to the mean values and resulted in greater statistical power for detecting differences between groups.
