The effects of CDDO on the mitotic index The mitotic index was determined at several time points after exposure of osteosarcoma cells to either DMSO, 10 μM nocodazole, or 5 μM CDDO. Typical of a spindle poison, nocodazole increases the mitotic index by blocking cell progression in mitosis. In contrast, CDDO seems to diminish the number of mitotic cells.
