Gasotransmitter synthesis and signalling in the renal glomerulus. Implications for glomerular diseases
2021, Cellular SignallingCitation Excerpt :Importantly, the inducible forms of gasotransmitter producing enzymes such as iNOS, HO-1 and CSE are themselves transcriptionally regulated in a redox dependent manner. The essential role of the redox-sensitive transcription factor NFκB for the induction of iNOS has first been shown in in the murine macrophage cell line RAW 264.7 [124], but meanwhile this regulatory mechanism has been demonstrated in nearly all cell types including glomerular endothelial and mesangial cells [33,42,43]. A functional role for an antioxidant responsive element (ARE) - later identified as the common target sequence for the transcription factor Nrf2 - in the iNOS promoter has also been reported in rat primary hepatocytes [125].

2009, American Journal of PathologyCitation Excerpt :It has been reported previously that CCR5 is involved in the activation of transcription factors in the hippocampus during inflammation.27 In addition, the production of COX-2 and iNOS proteins is tightly regulated at the transcriptional level.28,29 Thus, we attempted to evaluate the effects of MIP-1α and CCR5 in the Aβ1–40-induced activation of transcription factors established in the 5′-flanking region of the COX-2 and iNOS gene promoter.
