2024, Trends in Biochemical SciencesExogenous central angiotensin fails to stimulate a sodium appetite in diabetes insipidus Brattleboro rats
2021, Physiology and BehaviorCitation Excerpt :The 2 and 24h-intakes of water and 1.8%NaCl were compared with the intake of controls that received only i.c.v AngII (Fig 1). Test 2: The purpose of this experiment was to determine if prior administration of a selective antagonist of oxytocin receptors, ornithine vasotocin (OVT; [7]), would influence i.c.v. AngII induced salt appetite in DI rats. Here, 9 responding rats (DI, n=5; LE, n=4) received infusions of OVT (des Gly-NH2 d(CH2)5 [Tyr(Me)2, Thr4]; 1 ug/5 ul infused over 2 min, Sigma Aldrich), or aCSF into the third cerebral ventricle, 30 minutes prior to i.c.v AngII injection (Fig 1).
