Recent advances in studies of SLCO2A1 as a key regulator of the delivery of prostaglandins to their sites of action
2021, Pharmacology and TherapeuticsCitation Excerpt :However, there is little information on post-transcriptional and translational regulation of SLCO2A1. It has been known for half a century that PGs are rapidly eliminated from the systemic circulation through blood vessels of the lung, liver, and kidney (Anderson & Eling, 1976; Dusting, Moncada, & Vane, 1978; Eling & Anderson, 1976; Ferreira & Vane, 1967; Wong, McGiff, Sun, & Malik, 1978). Notably, more than 90 % of infused PGE2 was removed from the blood through the lung or liver upon single perfusion in cats, rabbits, and dogs (Ferreira & Vane, 1967).
Urinary oxidative stress biomarkers and accelerated time to spontaneous delivery
2019, Free Radical Biology and MedicineCitation Excerpt :In addition to 8-iso-PGF2α, we measured its metabolite which was associated with preterm birth. Direct kidney synthesis does not significantly affect concentrations of this compound, as metabolism is required prior to excretion in the urine which occurs mainly in organs such as the lung and liver [32,33]. Since 8-iso-PGF2α formed in the kidney is immediately excreted, the contribution of metabolite from this organ is minimal.
