2020, CellCitation Excerpt :For several reasons, we propose that RPN1 is part of a UFMylation “hub” that participates in ER-resident quality control. The OST complex associates with ribosomes and the SEC61/62/63 complex for nascent protein translocation and maturation (Braunger et al., 2018; Kelleher et al., 1992; Shibata et al., 2010; Wilson et al., 2005; Yan and Lennarz, 2005). RPL26 is a known UFMylation substrate within the 60S large ribosomal subunit and sits in in close proximity with RPN1 (Figures 6E and 7D) (Walczak et al., 2019).
