The soluble nectin-4 ecto-domain promotes breast cancer induced angiogenesis via endothelial Integrin-β4

In addition to integrin-β4, other integrins (integrin-α1, α2, α6, β1 and β4) are also expressed on endothelial cells with angiogenesis (Stromblad and Cheresh, 1996; Senger et al., 1997; Brooks, 1996). To determine whether the soluble nectin-4 ecto-domain physically interacts other integrins or not, we performed immunoprecipitation reactions pulling down the nectin-4 ecto-domain in HUVECs and blotted with integrin-α1, α2, α6, β1 and β4, respectively.

Today, many angiogenesis mediators are important targets in brain tumor therapy and diagnosis (D’Abaco and Kaye, 2007; Stromblad and Cheresh, 1996). The integrin αvβ3 receptor, one of a class of adhesion molecules family that serves for tumor cells to adhere to ECM, is particularly important in GBM angiogenesis (Desgrosellier and Cheresh, 2010).
