2004, Journal of Biological ChemistryCitation Excerpt :In INS-1 cells, [Ca2+]i oscillations of varying amplitudes and duration are often observed in the 3–11 mm glucose range (Fig. 3, A and B). These oscillations immediately disappear after removal of extracellular Ca2+ but persist after depletion of ER Ca2+ stores with thapsigargin (Fig. 3, A and B; see also Refs. 23 and 24). Store depletion after thapsigargin pretreatment was verified by the lack of Ca2+ mobilization in response to 100 μm carbachol.
