Activities are means ± S.E. of cAMP PDE activities in lysates of either human aorta or cultured human VSMC in the absence of modulating agents (cAMP PDE activity) or in the presence of calcium and calmodulin (Ca2+/CA), cilostamide (1 μM), or Ro 20-1724 (10 μM). Results from one of four separate experiments are shown.

    • 1-150p < 0.05; one-way analysis of variance (Tukey post hoc test) compared with human aorta.

    • 1-160p < 0.05; one-way analysis of variance (Tukey post hoc test) compared with cAMP PDE activity of lysate without modulating agents.
