New approaches to pharmacotherapy of tumors of the nervous system during childhood and adolescence
2009, Pharmacology and TherapeuticsThe neuroprotective effect of ladostigil against hydrogen peroxide-mediated cytotoxicity
2008, Chemico-Biological InteractionsCitation Excerpt :These include stabilization of mitochondrial membrane potential [8,44], induction of brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) mRNA and regulation of Bcl-2 family proteins, resulting in induced levels of Bcl-2 gene and protein [11,45]. Indeed, many different studies of apoptotic paradigms have shown that Bcl-2 can protect cells against oxidative insults [46–49]. Additionally, measurements of ROS levels (including H2O2) indicate that Bcl-2 expression is correlated with reduced levels of OS in cells exposed to oxidative damage.
