2005, Analytical BiochemistryCitation Excerpt :However, to create a more meaningful way of expressing FR quantitation, categories representing numerical ranges for FR levels were established based on data obtained from FR quantitation in various xenograft and syngeneic tumors (Fig. 5). For example, all of our available tumor models that were known to be high FR expressers (L1210, KB, M109, and HeLa [28–30]) were determined by FR assay to have more than 6 pmol FR/mg protein; consequently, any human tissue expressing at least 6 pmol FR/mg protein was considered to be “high positive.” In contrast, tumors that expressed negligible FR levels (4T1, 24JK, and A549) had values less than 2.5 pmol FR/mg protein; therefore, any human tissue with a value less than 2.5 pmol FR/mg protein was labeled as “negligible.”
