Although mammalian microsomal FMOs are considered to be NADPH-dependent enzymes, it has previously been demonstrated that NADPH can be partially replaced by NADH (Poulsen and Ziegler, 1995; Ziegler, 2002; Ziegler and Petit, 1966). For example, oxidation of N,N-dimethyaniline to dimethylaniline N-oxide is mediated both by NADPH and NADH (Ziegler and Petit, 1966).
