Distribution of 5-HT receptors in the central nervous system: an update
2020, Handbook of Behavioral NeuroscienceSerotonin neurobiology in cocaine use disorder
2020, Handbook of Behavioral NeuroscienceCitation Excerpt :The 5-HT4R couples to Gαs to positively link to adenylate cyclase in brain (for review, Bockaert, Claeysen, Compan, & Dumuis, 2004). Exhibiting a wide distribution throughout the CNS, the 5-HT4R is located in limbic areas (olfactory tubercle, PFC, hippocampus, amygdala), dorsal striatum, and NAc (Vilaró et al., 1996; Waeber, Sebben, Nieoullon, Bockaert, & Dumuis, 1994). The 5-HT4R localizes to terminals to facilitate DA, 5-HT, GABA, and acetylcholine release (for reviews, Bockaert et al., 2004, 2006).
