Opioid receptor-mediated changes in the NMDA receptor in developing rat and chicken
2019, International Journal of Developmental NeuroscienceCitation Excerpt :The nicotinic receptors can be activated by extracellular Ca2+ (Vernino et al., 1992), and are found in human and rat cerebellum in the period corresponding to the time point our experiments in the chicken were performed (Hellström-Lindahl et al., 1998). Nicotinic receptor expression has also been reported in chicken cerebellum (Daubas et al., 1990). The fact that MK-801 inhibits significantly more of the NMDA/glycine induced Ca2+influx than CGP 39551, supports this theory.
Developmental alterations of the septohippocampal cholinergic projection in a lissencephalic mouse model
2015, Experimental NeurologyCitation Excerpt :Interestingly the initial expression of nicotine cholinergic receptors in the hippocampus exactly coincides in time and space at these developmental stages (Fig. 6), showing that the arrival of cholinergic fibers may be involved in the adequate maturation of hippocampal neurons from CA1 (at E18.5) to CA3 (at P0). This synchrony is explained by a regulative activity of cholinergic innervation in the activation of receptor expression, like what was also observed in a pretectal nucleus of chick diencephalic development (Daubas et al., 1990). The existence of narrow temporal windows during development into which these regulative interactions must occur may explain functional anomalies linked to the heterochronic phenotypes observed in Lis1/sLis1.
