      Citation Excerpt :

Of these five, Ursolic acid showed the highest in vitro antiplasmodial activity. Analogues of ursolic acid have been reported to exhibit significant anti-malarial activity (Innocente et al., 2012; da Silva et al., 2013) and they have several mechanisms of action (Ginsburg et al., 1999; Gnoatto et al., 2008; Mullié et al., 2010). Three compounds isolated from Euphorbia hirta namely; Afzelin, Quercitrin and Myricitrin showed moderate activity against P. falciparum in vitro with afzelin showing the highest activity (Liu et al., 2007).
